Chapter 13

The car had been driving for a while. I leaned my head against the window, thoughts flying in every direction.

I hadn’t had any contact with Zhou Si this entire week. But I did take Zhou Wan off my block list. True to form, she hadn’t changed a bit—still chatty as ever. She even recommended a novel called Is There a Possibility, which she claimed she binge-read in one night. She went on and on about how amazing the male lead Lin Siyi was, how touching his story of secret love was, and how adorable the author Yin Ba was. She practically begged me to read it.

But come on, I had zero time to read some novel, and even less interest in learning about the author.

From Zhou Wan, I also got a few updates about Zhou Si. Apparently, he had been away on a business trip all week. Word was, he was still in Shenzhen as of lunchtime today.

So… this late at night, did Zhou Si seriously come to find me on purpose?

Just then, the driver suddenly hit the brakes, muttering curses under his breath: “Jesus! So what if you drive a luxury car? You think you own the road? Who’s paying if we crash, me or you?!”

I looked up and saw a Rolls-Royce Phantom blocking the road ahead.

Zhou Si stepped out of the driver’s seat and headed straight toward our car. Meanwhile, the ride-share driver rolled down his window and, switching from anger to a polite grin, said, “Sir, what’s going on? It’s really dangerous to suddenly cut in like that and slam on the brakes.”

Zhou Si gave him a quick apology, then opened the rear door of the car.

I was completely caught off guard, eyes wide as I stared at him.

He, however, looked all cool and composed, with one hand resting on the car, his voice smooth and businesslike: “Can we talk?”

It was still raining outside. Zhou Si wasn’t carrying an umbrella, and the raindrops left dark marks on his broad shoulders.

I swallowed nervously and nodded.

Fine, let’s talk. It’s not like he’s going to eat me alive.

But in the end?

Zhou Si did eat me alive—down to the bones and wiped clean!

As soon as I got in Zhou Si’s car, he started driving. He didn’t say a word, just kept a steady 60-70 km/h. I didn’t say anything either—mainly because I had no idea what to say.

About twenty minutes later, we reached a secluded spot, and he finally stopped the car.

I’ll admit, there was a moment I was completely captivated by how he looked—one hand on the steering wheel, a bit of his wrist showing, veins clear on the back of his hand, those defined fingers.

Zhou Si in a white shirt and black suit looked insanely sexy.

And then I thought of that dream I had last night. Dream-Zhou Si was totally different—he was like this prim and proper hypocrite who kept forcing me to call him “Brother Zhou” with a straight face.

The memory made my cheeks burn and my heart race.

To say I felt nothing would be a total lie. I’d been replaying that night over and over. I always thought I wasn’t a particularly lust-driven person—but this past week I’d had dreams like that every single night.

It was all Zhou Si’s fault.

“Xie Li,” he called.

Only the second time he said it did I snap back to reality.

“Turn your head and look at me,” he said.

I really didn’t want to. I stared out the window, my voice a little weak, “Just say what you want to say. I’m listening.”

He said my name again, more firmly: “Xie Li, turn your head and look at me.”

I couldn’t resist his tone and glanced at him, just a little.

Our eyes met. He looked at me with that exasperated expression of his.

I was just about to speak when Zhou Si suddenly leaned in. I froze, barely breathing, thinking he was going to do something—but he just plucked a feather stuck in my hair.

I exhaled, relieved, but also… a little disappointed. Like I’d gotten my hopes up for nothing.

Zhou Si was still really close. He twirled the white feather between his fingers and asked, “Zhou Wan told you everything?”

I blinked, then nodded.

He nodded slightly too, then said, “Tell me what you think.”

What did I think?

What could I think?

Maybe it was because he was so close, but I felt like I was drowning in his presence. I couldn’t think straight. So I said, “Uh, you’re too close. I can’t think.”

Instead of backing off, Zhou Si leaned in even closer.

His voice dropped to a sexy, raspy murmur, and he gave me a teasing smile: “What about now?”

Just as I was about to say something, he kissed me.

I quickly covered my lips. “You cheated!”

He kissed the back of my hand and asked softly, “Cheated how?”

There was nowhere left to run. Nowhere to hide.

Zhou Si pulled my hand, lifting me out of the passenger seat and onto his lap.

I have to admit—at that moment, I wasn’t exactly resisting. I mean, seriously, who could resist this kind of temptation? Especially when I already knew how good it felt.

When Zhou Si’s hot breath brushed over my skin, my brain just… shut off. Instinct took over. It was like I knew eating too many sweets was bad for me, but there was a perfect scoop of ice cream right in front of my lips—how could I not taste it?

And Zhou Si was way more intoxicating than in my dreams. Sweeter, even. I straddled him, my arms wrapped around his neck, greedily tasting his lips and tongue.

He had this talent—he always gave me enough room to explore at first, but he’d take control back at just the right moment.

With a man like Zhou Si, I was totally outmatched. No way was I buying that it was his first time. Still don’t believe it, to be honest.

A sudden flash of headlights approached, and I buried myself in Zhou Si’s chest, too embarrassed to look up. A car sped past, and he patted my back and whispered, “Scaredy-cat.”

I couldn’t help snapping back, “You’re the scaredy-cat.”

Zhou Si didn’t argue. He hugged me tighter, rubbing my back. Then he asked, “Do you want me?”

God, yes.

I so wanted him.

I even dreamed about it—literally.

But I was too shy to say it out loud.

I mean, look at what we were already doing. Did he really need to ask?

Since I couldn’t bring myself to say it, I leaned in and gave his neck a little bite through his shirt.

Zhou Si gave a low sigh, then lifted my chin and kissed me hard.

The car rocked. The rain dripped. The night carried on.

Even though the space was cramped, it felt like I was drifting through clouds—everything I was supposed to feel, I felt. Maybe even more intensely than last time. The excitement of doing it in the car had my nerves on edge the whole time.

This brand-new experience had me completely hooked.

Zhou Si once again made me understand the true difference between men.

With contrast, comes clarity. Thinking back to my ex-boyfriend Chen Zhicheng, I honestly couldn’t feel more repulsed.

Seriously—once you’ve had something good, everything before that just feels like wasted time. I might still feel all weird and conflicted about Zhou Si emotionally, but my body? Oh, my body was being very honest. And honestly, I didn’t feel like overthinking it anymore. I’d just enjoy it first and deal with the rest later.

Actually, I didn’t fully agree with Zhou Wan.

She said I had a “love-brain,” like I lost all rationality when I liked someone—but I disagreed. If I really were like that, would I have dumped Chen Zhicheng the moment I found out he cheated?

And now, even facing someone as dangerously tempting as Zhou Si, I could still think clearly.

Zhou Si must’ve sensed I was spacing out because he suddenly bit my lip.

A thin layer of sweat glistened on his forehead. His white shirt was perfectly buttoned up, looking pristine—as if nothing had happened. But oh, things had happened. Very, very thoroughly.

I gasped in surprise, about to plead for mercy—and then, by accident, I blurted out: “Zhicheng.”

Zhou Si froze.

For a split second, it was the kind of quiet that comes before a storm.

Outside, the rain had stopped. Only a few raindrops clung to the window glass. It was like I was sitting in the eye of a typhoon—everything looked calm and peaceful.

Zhou Si slowly brushed a strand of my hair aside, touched my swollen lower lip with his thumb, and in an eerily calm voice asked:

“Xie Li, what did you just call me?”
